She is 5-4, and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Creech of Zebulon. Miss Walters, another Wakelon School senior, has been accepted for enrollment at Meredith Col lege. The 5-4 Vz beauty has measurements of 34-24-36, brown hair and eyes. She was an alter nate to Girls’ State, winner of an essay contest sponsored by the Colonial Dames of Wake County and a member of the Journalism Club. She loves reading, and mu sic. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Newton A. Walters of Wakefield. This will be the second pageant sponsored by the local Junior Chamber of Commerce. In Meredith Chorus The Meredith College Chorus, conducted by Beatrice Donley, will sing its annual ‘♦Spring ConceTt” as the Saturday evening program of Hospitality Weekend, May 4-5. Miss Betsy Alford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Alford of Zebulon, will be featured in the chorus. The concert which is pro grammed for 8 pjn. in the college auditorium is open to the public. Bernstein, Gershwin, Kern and Herbert are the featured compos ers, giving an entirely different mood from the sacred music of the Christmas concert. Selections will be sung from “West Side Story,” “Porgy and Bess,” “Showboat,” and from four Herbert operettas. Then—10 years later—the area became more densely populated and was annexed into a town. That's when the taller pole was put up by a commercial, investor-owned power company— the same company which would not serve the \ area when it was sparsely populated. ^ The company and the town said to the co-op, “Get out.” Fair? Hardly. What’s more, it isr’t just the cooperatives who suffer when their mem bers are taken away by these duplicate lines— although it means one less member to share the cost of electric service. All consumers lose. After all, the cost of the unnecessary power company lines is a part of its customers' electric bills.
